International Young Pianist

Yuchong Wu is an internationally renowned young pianist, recognized as one of the most sought-after rising stars in the world of classical music today. In 2019, he was named a Changjiang Piano Artist, and in June of the same year, he became the first pianist to perform on a Chinese piano at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, marking a historic moment.

Legendary pianist Murray Perahia has praised Wu’s playing as possessing “a unique and extraordinary sense of Romanticism, poetry, and exquisitely refined touch.”

Wu began piano studies with Professor Zhuangzhuang Li, Chair of the Piano Department at Xi’an Conservatory of Music. He was awarded a full scholarship to attend and graduate from The Juilliard School, where he studied with world-renowned pianists Matti Raekallio and Robert McDonald, who also serves as Chair of the Piano Department at the Curtis Institute of Music. In 2019, he was awarded another full scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree and Artist Diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying under the distinguished pianist and pedagogue Christopher Elton, graduating in 2022.
